#DoYouIndie What I’ve Learned

I am , again, participating in the Indie Challenge hosted by Bootsnall. Just like last year, I’d be posting an article a day, based on the question / challenge of that day.

Three Things You’ve Learned the Hard Way through Life & Travel

QUESTION:
What are 3 things you’ve learned the hard way? Be as serious or as funny as you want, just tell us 3 things (or more if you are so inclined) that you’ve learned through life & travel.

1. Our travel style is “weird” to our friends. They cannot understand why we hate to rush to see “everything”

2. The older I get the more I hate “shared bathrooms”. I now avoid hostels which don’t have rooms with bathroom en-suite

3. I hate long connections. 5 hours in Bari airport was the most I had to endure and was very challenging. Thank you very much, I prefer to pay more for a lot shorter connections.

4. When you have experience in planning trips professionally (my job title says: traveler consultant), your acquaintances will take it for granted and “translate” that to : my free travel agent. A lot of “friendships” ended because of this.

5. The friends I make when I travel are long-time friends. Always.
