Road Trip: Radna – Lipova – Paulis

I am a fan of using any chance to get out of the city and discover new places. As it happens, I’ve already been to the places we visit on Saturday (Mar 15) but that was years ago.

First stop was Radna with its Monastery dedicated to Holy Mary. We’ve been here in 2011 (and I’ve visited the place in 2002, as well). Right now, the monastery is undergoing a large restoration project, which can only make me really happy.

We then walked on the hill behind the Monastery, taking photos and enjoying nature. We spotted a squirrel but it was too fast for me to catch a photo of it.

The we decided to go to Lipova and check out the old part of the town and the Museum. I’ve visited the museum back in 2002 and I’ve also been to Lipova in 2010 (when I coordinated a social responsibility project). After touring the small museum, we saw the Great Turkish Bazaar and then one of the small parks, passed by the River Mures and then made our way to Paulis for a picnic.

I’ve been to Paulis before the Revolution of 1989 (when I was made a “soim al patrieri” – which is sort of a boy scout of Romania but during the communist era). The monument is dedicated to the World War II heroes.

By the time we reached home, it was already cold outside . Two hours later and a storm was brewing in the city.

I loved our short escape this weekend. Cannot wait for many more!
