For our one year and a half anniversary I had this romantic idea to plan a weekend trip somewhere close to home. Moneasa seemed a good idea and by Thursday evening I was actually trying to find a place to stay. Yes, very late since we left on Saturday, but hey, it’s close to home.

Ran some searches and found Pensiunea Raluca on cazarearad.ro (the site is in Romanian only). Called the number and a nice lady answered. She told me they had only rooms with shared bathroom and that the guest house is located close to the camp.

On Saturday morning, after 3 hours on the bus, we got to Moneasa and found the guest house easily. I was pleased at the sight of the pool , barbeque area and kitchen. And our room was absolutely cute. Plus we had this wonderful balcony. And the bathroom was right by our room door.

It was horribly hot outside , but the mountain air was exactly what we wanted for that weekend. Plus we got quite a lot of souvenirs, including a rummy game and some playing cards. And the balcony was amazing because we had a table and chairs.

We used the fully equipped kitchen to make coffee and prepare almost all meals (with the exception of two meals when we went out to the restaurant).

I loved every moment at the guest house. The nights were quite cold but we had covers. And it was lovely during the day as we were not in the valley but a bit on the mountain, so it was cooler than in the resort.

We paid 65 lei / 16.20 euros per night for 2 persons in mid-July. The advertised price for August is 50 lei /11 eur per night. I recommend the guest house for a group of youngsters on holiday (the guest house can accommodate 12 persons easily) and even for families with friends. As a couple, we loved the guest house too, but a private bathroom would probably be better.
