#DoYouIndie – Why I travel

It’s that time of the year when Bootsnall has decided to challenge us again. This year I am proud to answer the questions again on my personal blog but I will also answer questions on the company’s blog (something I have done some years ago as well).

Just like last year, I’d be posting an article a day, based on the question / challenge of that day.

We all have different reasons for traveling. So answer one of the following questions:

QUESTION 1:
Why did you first start traveling? Why did you continue to travel?
QUESTION 2:
Why do you want to travel?

Here is an article I wrote in 2013 on the “why do we travel” topic and which is the answer for Question 2.

And now let’s get into more details for Question 1.

I’ve always traveled. As a child, either my parents or my grandparents would take me along when they had been on various trips for work. Thus, I got to see my own county in my dad’s work car, I got to see my own country visiting relatives or when my family went on work trips.

Why I traveled independently first? Because I was hungry for experiences. I loved to discover new places as a child and , as I grew up and started to document the travels in writing and in photos, I only got more interested in discovering new places and opportunities.

My first independent trip happened when I was 20 and, together with two other friends, we went to Sighisoara, Romania for the medieval festival. I didn’t know much about the festival and have read a bit about the city , knowing it was the best preserved Medieval town in my country.

The result? I fell in love with Medieval towns, fortresses and seeing places from above. And I was hungry for even more travelling.

Why do I continue to travel? Because I love to discover new places , take interesting photos and share my experiences on my blog (and in my books) for others to enjoy, as well.
