4 Things I like about Arad

I’ve been living in Arad, Romania all my life (that’s 30 years). I learned to love my city , but I also hate it with all my heart. It’s a constant love-hate relationship between us, I must admit. I love the spring with its bright green and I love the fall with its superb foliage. I could live without the bitter cold during winter.

So let us take a look at the reasons why I like Arad:

The Bank of the River Mures

Or better said: the promenade area and the parks. It’s a delight to walk hand in hand when the spring or fall air is crisp. I also like the sweet late summer nights when you know that the weather is not going to hold for longer and you enjoy every second of it.

The Architecture

This is one of the reason why I always carry a camera with me (or a cell with a good camera on it). There’s always something to take a photo of: old buildings, interesting gates. The Revolutiei Boulevard along with many of the smaller streets which connect to it are filled with interesting old buildings.

Go to the viewing area at Hotel Continental (Astoria) and you will be rewarded with Arad seen from above. A delight!

The events

Although the cultural events are limited to theater and symphonic concerts, there are countless concerts taking place in clubs all over the town; whether you like rock or any other genre, you’ll be happy.
Then there are the endless festivals, ranging from the Christmas Market to the Wine Festival, to the Easter Fair and to the yearly Arad Days.
