Something to Read: Best Christmas Books

Many of us travel during this time of the year and the long hours spent in airports, train stations and getting from one place to another are sweeter when we open a book to read. And while I read year-round, there’s only a small fraction of time when I can stomach Christmas Books. By mid-January I am sick of anything reminding me of the Holidays and badly want some spring.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens : I bet many of you have already read the book , about Scrooge and his experiences with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.

The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg: Polar Express is an old-fashioned steam train that takes children to the North Pole on Christmas Eve to meet Santa. The message is a bit hidden but easily spot: belief keeps us young at heart.

Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Robert L. May : at Christmas time it’s very foggy and by the time Santa gets to Rudolph’s house it’s pitch black. But the reindeer’s nose is a big help in delivering the presents.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss: the Grinch hates Christmas and wants to impersonate Santa and stop Christmas. But on Christmas morning he is in for a big surprise.

The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Andersen: a little girl is afraid to come home because she hasn’t sold enough matches. To keep warm she lights match after match and sees visions in the flames.

Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffman: the language might not be appropriate for young kids, but this story is a classic.
