Bari Airport (Italian: Aeroporto di Bari-Karol Wojtyła) (BRI) is located 8 km / 5 miles from the city center. It serves Bari and the surrounding area, including the Garganic Coast.

Most of the flights operating here are seasonal, but some airlines do offer year-round flights, including Wizz Air.

There are several ways to get to/from City Center of Bari to the Airport.

The train

Ferrotramviaria manages the line to Bari Centrale. The single adult ticket is 5 euros. You can use this link to check out the hours of operation.

It takes about 14 mins to get to /from airport from Bari Centrale.

At the Bari Airport station there are only machines to get the tickets but the ladies working the info booth are very helpful and their English is great! Once you have the ticket, you need to go through a long hallway, then scan the bar code to get to the platform (binario) 1.

In Bari, there is a bar within the station, opposite the info booth where you can buy the tickets. Those working there have limited English proficiency but it is doable. Look for the train to “Barletta Centrale via Aeroporto

Bus

Urban Line 16 (AMTAB Servizio Urbano linea n 16) operates from Piazza Moro Stazione Centrale (right in front of Bari Centrale).

There are also buses going to Brindisi , Foggia , Taranto and Matera.

Car rental or taxi

We never do this but the options exist. Car rentals are especially useful if you want to drive along the coast.

To/from the Garganic Coast

The easiest way is to take the bus to Foggia and then connect there with buses to the resorts you need to get to.

Another way – especially if you hate buses like we do – is to go to Bari by train, then get on another train (operated by TrenItalia) to get to Foggia and only then connect by bus.
