Airline Review: EasyJet

EasyJet has won several awards for best European low-cost carrier. I have read quite a lot about them but until this year I haven’t flown on any of their flights. The online booking system was very easy and straight forward. And I absolutely loved that they allowed me to print my boarding card a month prior to departure! Since one of us has a Visa Electron card, we also avoided the booking fees.

I knew their strict regulations regarding luggage so came prepared. In other words, my luggage lost its wheels before the trip to Rome Fiumicino airport for fear of having to pay checked baggage fees. And I was right to do so as they did check the luggage with the special “cage”. On the way back from Athens no one actually bothered to do any checking. Guess it’s as a friend said: totally depends on the staff at the boarding gate.

I have flown before – and by now flying has become quite routine – but I wish they had given the safety regulations earlier rather than while we were taxing to the runway (although looks like this is the procedure at Fiumicino for any flight). But they did give the safety regulations in Italian, Greek and English (showing the exits and how to use the lifejacket only for the English part).

I was pleasantly surprised about the flight and everything about it. I’ve flown Boeing before and Airbus definitely has more leg room. So was very pleased that I didn’t feel cramped.

On board food and beverages aren’t that expensive either, but I never eat or drink in the plane (let’s just say that one “meeting” with an airplane toilet was more than I could ever bare!).

The flight was short but I felt really sleepy (waking up at 2 a.m. on one day and 4 a.m. the very next day to catch the flight might have had something to do with it) so I didn’t even bother to listen to music. But I did read the in-flight magazine.

All in all, I do recommend EasyJet for their prices and services. However , pay attention to the carry on luggage requirements. Measure it so that it fits the regulation.

  1. Hey!

Ce dimensiuni avea bagajul tau/ce tip era? Ai cumva o poza? Eu zbor sambata cu wizz si trolerul meu depaseste usor (din cauza rotilor si manerului) cei 55cm maximi admisi (ajung pe la 56-57). In rest se incadreaza ok. Sunt putin stresata din cauza asta, as vrea sa stiu daca e nevoie sa ma apuc de scos roti si alte cele :))

    Merci!
